You would think it would be easy for me to criticize someone else organizing an office (especially if they’re not a pro), but when bestselling author Gretchen Rubin organized her sister Elizabeth's office and recorded the process for her podcast, so many moments made me smile.  Not

Heirlooms and anything of sentimental value seem to stump us. They hold great personal value, but sometimes the most important ones are collecting dust in a crammed box. I find them in places anywhere from behind glass in the etagere, stashed in the basement by the boxful, or unprotected or damaged by the time we find them in the oddest places.

Speaking of art, this pushpin world map by Conquest Maps would be a stunner on any office wall.  Most of my clients are Washingtonians who have seen so much of the world, for work or play.  Just yesterday I was adding travel memories to my client’s overflowing “Trips Taken” box.

DC real estate agent Dina Paxenos called me first in 2013 to organize her home office in the Petworth neighborhood.  Compared to many of my projects, Dina’s office didn’t look “that bad,” but she felt cluttered and wanted a clean slate.
