How I used Evernote this week to keep from asking the same question 100 times
It seems as if every other week Nic gets a text from me while I’m standing in the Whole Foods deli asking “what’s the name of that Italian salami that I love?” It’s anyone’s guess as to why it took so long for me to add “Finocchiona” to Evernote, holding the record for my shortest note.
Flip this switch to break the phone addiction
These days It’s become rare that a hack is actually such. So many “hacks” require 101 easy steps. That’s why The Atlantic Senior Editor James Hamblin's video lesson on how (and why) to use turn your iPhone screen gray caught my attention last week. Why would you want to deny yourself the technicolor color screen that you pay big bucks for? It’s those exact colors that lure you to check your phone every five minutes.
No purse. No wallet. Here’s how.
You may already know that I don’t carry a purse (but do carry a bag when working with clients), and have one of the tidiest wallets on YouTube, but I’ve now gone even more minimal. Since April I’ve been using my iPhone case to carry the barest of essentials: my driver’s license and personal debit card. Should I need to carry cash or use another card, I do carry my wallet.
Top 5 excuses for keeping things we don’t need
Virginia-based Matt Paxton, host of Hoarders is my celebrity organizer crush (tied with Peter Walsh). So when Matt posts something, I read it. Matt recently shared on Facebook an article on excuses to which he contributed. Of the 5 most popular excuses for keeping things we don’t need, #1 was “In case I need them in the future.” Sound familiar?
Please share: What is the one thing you should throw out?
Love him or hate him, I’m a rabid devotee of author, entrepreneur, investor, seeker, Tim Ferriss. His is my desert island podcast, which is why it was fun to listen to Tim being interviewed by Stephen Dubner on his Freakonomics radio show. To listen to a masterful interviewer is to ask oneself, “why haven’t I ever asked that question?” He asked this of Tim, and I’d like you to answer it too:
How I used Evernote this summer to paperlessly plan my wedding
Within days of saying “yes” a year ago, I created my “Wedding” notebook in Evernote for our big day this September. It has been absolutely essential! How do people plan weddings (let alone anything) without Evernote! It not only keeps my head straight, but allows me to seamlessly share information with my sister and sister-in-law to be who are helping with planning. Here is a sampling of my 62 notes in my Wedding notebook:
