My client and I are so close to taking a gorgeous “after” shot of this office - we started in 2013! No it hasn’t technically taken us this long to do the job. We worked for about 20 hours back then, and largely fixed the systemic “behind the scenes” problems, and even cleared the entire extra table and most of the desk. As the years rolled by, some life and paper crept back in and we’re going for gold in round #2.
What I want to point out here is that a second desk never fixes any problems. Take it from someone who has cleared more second and third desks than anyone I know: a second desk is not your friend. You don’t need “the extra space to sort” or to “just get it off the floor.” The paper will magnetize around it even faster than before.
What to do? Focus, toss, and sort. My goodness, it’s easier said than done, but nearly all of my clients say it wasn’t as painful as they had expected!
