I've always known I wanted to work for myself. I started my organizing business in 2001 immediately after graduation from college. Like many organizers I did a little bit of everything: closets, offices, hoarders, junk rooms, basements, attics, you name it. I reached a point in 2008 where I was, honestly, bored with my work. When taking inventory of my greatest success stories, I realized they were all office jobs. I had to admit that I had a passion for something decidedly unglamorous – sorting paper and designing beautiful, functional offices.
For most, they quickly realize that they hate starting to organize because they've done it 1000 times with no results. Watching bags of paper go out the door is always exhilarating. Re-discovering your desktop is always empowering. Watching years of ragged files neatly line up in vibrant colors is always a relief. You might not come out of this wanting to file on a Friday night, but you WILL be shocked at how painless the process with an expert holding your hand every step of the way.
Yes! Please go to the testimonials and case studies pages and read all of them. The clients listed would be happy to share specifics about their experience and results.
Basically, if you generate your own income, pay self-employment tax, own or operate a business, or primarily work from home, then you qualify. This includes wellness professionals, lawyers, real estate agents, restaurant owners, store owners, writers, designers, consultants, therapists and so much more.
Please be able to visualize improvement, be optimistic, find humor in your shortcomings, take advice from an expert, offer self-introspection as to why you are the way you are, have demonstrated ability to implement new habits, recognize when you're making excuses, and be widely known in your circle as a very nice person. This last one is a must, as we'll be spending a lot of time together. I'm nice too by the way.
I can create and name categories like nobodies business. Your piles are my entertaining puzzles. One of my clients affectionately calls me "The Terminator." He pointed out my ability to scan a room full of piles and instantly reduce it to dozens of smartly named categories within a few macro categories. Apparently I get really quiet, my eyes dart, and I eventually out comes golden nuggets of how we're going to do it.
I offer hourly consulting to clients who have completed one of the three packages. The reason for this is that new habits and systems seldom last without regular follow-up. Follow-up is built into my consulting packages to ensure your lasting success.
As long as your office needs Inspiration. Though I'm happy to see you thrive without me, we can work together on an hourly basis after you have graduated from one of the consultation packages.
By focusing only on business owners and self-employed people and their offices, I am an expert on the needs of this specific group. I pride myself on my ability to design very customized solutions for different personality types. Though I follow the same system for everyone, no two paper systems or offices look alike.
Call to discuss rates for the three packages and I'll direct you to my rates page. I have them designed for various budgets and project sizes.
Though most of my clients are in the immediate Metropolitan Washington, DC area, I do travel. I also offer virtual organizing services via phone and Skype. Click here to learn more.
